The House of Khamit, formerly the
Jewels of Aton, is an African/African
American cultural shop. Created in 1982 by Bro. Mykiel Raufu-Bey,
The
House of Khamit specializes in jewelry designs, which are replicas of
Gold (White and Yellow) jewelry first designed in Ancient Egypt over three to five thousand years
ago.
Described as "The best black bookstore in Washington DC"
, The House of
Khamit stocks a comprehensive catalog of books written by or about the
African experience historically, at home, and in the Diaspora.
This cultural shop has an inventory of cultural gifts, accessories, and
clothing which features African influenced designs and accessories. The
House of Khamit is also the Kwanzaa supplies headquarters of Washington, DC.
Mission Statement:
